Tinubu enjoys strong northern support – APC

Despite what some political experts say, Ayo Oyalowo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserts that President Bola Tinubu continues to enjoy considerable support in northern Nigeria.

Oyalowo denied rumors that the president has lost support in the north ahead of the 2027 elections during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

Tinubu doesn’t have any issues with the North. The North has a strong presence in this government today. Northerners currently hold a number of important posts in this government,” he stated.

As an example, he cited the recent appointment of Kano as the location of the Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Those who say differently, he said, are merely angry because they didn’t receive what they wanted.

Oyalowo also brought up recent footage of children in Bauchi and Sokoto cheering after the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) was used by the federal government to pay their school tuition.

That video was from Sokoto, not Ogbomoso or Lagos. Those are actual people. He remarked, “Students came out to thank Tinubu for paying their fees.

He charged that some Nigerians ignore “the good that is happening” and instead concentrate on the nation’s economic struggles.

Oyalowo added that Tinubu’s actions in the area have received open praise from northern governors.

Did you hear what the Katsina governor had to say? Have you heard the Kaduna governor?  At the moment, these leaders are telling their people about what Bola Tinubu has done for them in the North,” he added.

He maintained that the true northern people are still behind Tinubu, even if he acknowledged that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has continued to criticize the president.
