Plateau Killings: Group condemns genocide, seeks eviction of Fulani immigrants

Under the auspices of the Bokkos Likeminds Association (BLA), an advocacy organization, has vehemently denounced what it describes as the continuous genocide, ceaseless murders, and devastation of communities and property in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area.

The BLA urged the federal and state governments, security agencies, and pertinent authorities to intensify efforts to stop the slaughter, voicing its concerns about the widespread attacks in the area by alleged Fulani militias.

The BLA said in a statement signed by General Secretary Engr. Morgan Mangai and President Dr. ST Nguwap said that the armed Fulani militia’s attacks had destroyed homes, displaced communities from their farmlands, and killed hundreds of people.

Since many of the residents of the Bokkos council have been forced to leave their ancestral homes, they described the attacks as organized and methodical, saying that they are currently endangering their lives.

According to the statement provided to LAD REPORTING, the BLA requests, among other things, that Fulani immigrants who have no legal or ancestral claim to their lands be forced to leave; that open grazing be completely prohibited; and that modern ranching methods be implemented.

Other demands include the constitutional acknowledgment of indigenous rights and the right to self-defense, as well as stricter border restrictions and enforcement of immigration rules.

In order to provide justice, reform, and security to the people of Bokkos, the organization further urged the federal government, the Plateau State government, and the international community to act right away.
