Marseille completes signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Marseille has completed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer.

The previous Arsenal and Chelsea striker terminated his contract with Saudi Professional League membership Al Qadsiah earlier this month, leaving him in a position to be part of another club as a free agent.

This shall be Aubameyang’s second spell with Marseille, having scored 30 goals in 51 appearances throughout all competitions in 2023-24.

Aubameyang joined newly-promoted Al Qadsiah on a two-year deal in July 2024, and scored 21 goals in 36 games in the final season.

The 36-year-old started his senior career at AC Milan in 2008 and had loan spells at Dijon, Lille, and Monaco before signing for Saint-Etienne in 2011. He spent 18 months with the French membership, scoring 41 targets in 97 video games earlier than becoming a member of Borussia Dortmund in July 2013.

He scored 98 Bundesliga goals throughout 5 seasons at Dortmund, before moving on to a transfer to Arsenal reported to be price £56million in 2018.

The Gabonese forward spent four-and-a-half seasons in north London, scoring 22 goals within the Premier League in each 2018-19 and the next season, however, left the club by mutual consent in February 2022, shortly after being stripped of the captaincy by head coach Mikel Arteta.

Aubameyang had transient spells at Barcelona and Chelsea before becoming a player of Marseille in 2023.
