Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Old Trafford club has been battling Newcastle United for the 22-year-old striker.
Newcastle United first tabled €75million plus €5million in add-ons, before increasing that on Monday to at least €80 million. Within 24 hours, Manchester United have come knocking with their own appraised €75m plus €10m. Newcastle have been working on the deal, and on Tuesday, a bid of €82.5 m plus €2.5m was accepted by Leipzig. Still, Sesko wants to join Manchester United, and all parties are really conscious of that, as addresses advance to fulfill Leipzig’s prospects.
Although there isn’t a club-to-club agreement yet, the situation is twitching in that direction. The Slovenian attacker’s choice comes despite Newcastle’s willingness to pay a better figure and provide Champions League football. Sesko’s choice seems to have swung in favour of Manchester United. The Manchester United outfit was adamant to pay what they thought would have been taken for Villa to consider as business. United had shown interest in a deal for Liam Delap before this summer; yet, the striker decided to join Chelsea from Ipswich City. The club has also signed forwards Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, whereas teenage left-back Diego Leon has joined from Cerro Porteno.
