Khamzat Chimaev Welcomed by Fans in UAE After UFC Title Victory

Khamzat Chimaev received a hero’s welcome in the United Arab Emirates less than 48 hours after capturing the UFC middleweight championship. The 31-year-old fighter arrived in the country to a crowd of supporters eager to celebrate his achievement.

Footage shared on social media Monday showed fans gathering at the airport to greet Chimaev. The champion, wearing the title belt on his shoulder and draped in a flag, took time to sign autographs and pose for photographs.

The reception, though significant, was more restrained compared to the large-scale celebration Georgian fighter Merab Dvalishvili experienced earlier this year after his victory over Sean O’Malley. In that instance, Dvalishvili was surrounded by thousands of fans upon returning home.

Chimaev’s arrival followed a decisive win against Dricus Du Plessis, a bout that secured his first UFC title while maintaining his undefeated professional record. His success marks a key milestone in his career and further strengthens his standing within the organization.

During the post-fight press conference, Chimaev expressed his readiness to compete again soon. He indicated a willingness to participate in the UFC’s Abu Dhabi event scheduled for October, stating he had sustained no injuries in the championship match. “I’m ready always. No injuries, thank God,” he said.

The victory and subsequent homecoming underscore Chimaev’s rising profile in the sport. His swift turnaround plans also reflect his commitment to remain active in competition, aligning with UFC’s strategy to leverage major events in the Middle East.

For now, Chimaev continues to enjoy the recognition and support of fans in the UAE, celebrating a milestone that could shape the trajectory of his future in mixed martial arts.
