Arteta speaks on Gyokeres replacing Saka as Arsenal’s penalty taker

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that Viktor Gyökeres may take over penalty duties from Bukayo Saka.
Since Alexandre Lacazette’s departure, Saka has been the primary penalty taker, occasionally handing the responsibility to captain Martin Ødegaard.
However, both players have missed spot-kicks in recent seasons.

During his time at Sporting CP, Gyökeres successfully converted all 19 penalty attempts last season.
Following Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle on Sunday, Arteta commented, “I’m sure he’ll step up—if the others let him take it.”
“Because, as you say, he’s been very consistent and he’s scored many goals, but we have some other penalty takers – really good ones as well.
“So they will resolve it themselves, and if not, I will intervene at the right moment.”
