Apple to Introduce New Color Options for iPhone 17 Lineup

Apple is expected to expand its color options for the upcoming iPhone 17 series, with new shades confirmed for two models, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The development highlights Apple’s continued focus on design differentiation as it prepares for its annual product launch.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be available in an orange finish. This color has previously been described in leaks as a copper-like tone. Alongside orange, dummy models suggest Apple will also offer the Pro models in black, white, and dark blue.

Additionally, Gurman noted that the iPhone 17 Air, a model replacing the iPhone 16 Plus, will debut in a new light blue shade. This color, which first surfaced in reports from Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, is said to be significantly lighter than Apple’s previous blue finishes and may appear almost white in dim lighting. Industry observers suggest this shade will play a central role in Apple’s marketing strategy for the device.

Apple has historically introduced subtle yet distinctive finishes to distinguish its flagship devices. For the iPhone 16 Pro, the company introduced Desert Titanium, which accompanied Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium options. Analysts note that with the iPhone 17 Pro shifting to a part-glass, part-aluminum design, the addition of new colors aligns with Apple’s established pattern of updating materials and aesthetics.

The timing of these developments coincides with Apple’s expected annual launch event. Reports indicate the company will unveil the iPhone 17 series on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Pre-orders are projected to open on Friday, September 12, with the devices reaching customers and retail outlets by Friday, September 19.

The color additions for the iPhone 17 lineup underscore Apple’s strategy of combining hardware innovation with design updates to drive consumer interest. Market analysts emphasize that color choices, though often considered cosmetic, play a measurable role in consumer buying decisions, especially among younger demographics.

Apple has not officially confirmed the new finishes. However, Gurman’s reporting, combined with corroborating leaks from the supply chain, signals a high degree of confidence that orange and light blue will headline the refreshed lineup.

The upcoming event is expected to reveal further details on specifications, pricing, and availability. Until then, anticipation continues to build as Apple prepares to mark another year in its flagship product cycle.
