Manchester United Set £50m Price Tag as Garnacho Nears Chelsea Move

Manchester United have set a £50 million valuation for winger Alejandro Garnacho amid growing interest from Chelsea, signalling a potential high-profile transfer within the Premier League.
Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign the 21-year-old Argentina international. Sources close to the club suggest that Garnacho prefers a move to Stamford Bridge over offers from Italian clubs, positioning the west London side as his likely destination.
Manchester United have stipulated that only cash offers will be entertained. All player-exchange proposals have been rejected outright, indicating a clear financial strategy.
The Red Devils have benchmarked their valuation against Arsenal’s recent acquisition of Noni Madueke from Chelsea, also valued at £50 million. United consider this fee a fair market standard for a young, high-potential winger.
However, Chelsea officials are reportedly reluctant to meet the current asking price. Club insiders describe the valuation as excessive, especially given Garnacho’s diminished role at Old Trafford.
The player’s relationship with United manager Ruben Amorim has deteriorated since the Portuguese coach took over in November. Tensions escalated following Garnacho’s exclusion from the starting lineup in May’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. The decision sparked public discontent from both Garnacho and his brother Roberto on social media platforms.
Following the loss to Athletic Bilbao, Amorim reportedly informed Garnacho he could pursue opportunities elsewhere. Since then, Garnacho has been sidelined from first-team training and was notably left out of the club’s pre-season tour to the United States.
During the tour, Amorim publicly addressed the matter, stating that team harmony and performance objectives dictated selection decisions. Garnacho’s omission further indicates the club’s readiness to part ways with the winger.
In parallel, Manchester United have reinforced their attacking lineup significantly. The summer transfer window has seen the club invest over £200 million, bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
This influx of attacking talent suggests a strategic overhaul under Amorim’s leadership and leaves limited room for Garnacho’s reintegration into the squad.
The transfer saga is expected to unfold rapidly as Chelsea weigh a formal bid. Industry observers anticipate continued negotiations, with both clubs seeking to optimize financial and sporting outcomes.
